Ivory Coast demonstrates Belarusian-made Kaiman armored cars

The military of Cote d`Ivoire its new Belarusian-made Kaiman (Caiman) 4x4 armored cars during a military parade dedicated to the 58th anniversary of the country`s independence, according to local media outlets.

South Korea: ministry to harness cutting edge technologies to enhance military logistics

South Korea's defense ministry on 8 August announced a plan to capitalize on big data, 3-D printing, drones and other cutting-edge technologies to strengthen the military's logistical support capabilities.
"So as to expand logistical support capabilities and efficiency, the defense ministry plans to preemptively adopt technologies related to the fourth industrial revolution," the ministry said in a press release, referring to the fast-paced industrial transformation marked by the convergence of new technologies (Illustration: RAND Corp.)

Russia plans to upgrade five Il-22M11 airborne command posts

The Russian Defense Ministry plans to upgrade five Il-22M11 aircraft to become multirole air command posts, the Izvestia daily said. The aircraft will get a retransmitting hub integrated with ground and air automatic control systems. The work is to be done by 2021 and the total cost will exceed 1.6 bln ruble (USD 25 million). BAE Systems to develop automated cyber defense tools for DARPA

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected BAE Systems to develop data-driven, cyber-hunting tools that detect and analyze cyber threats to help protect extremely large enterprise networks. Leonardo DRS On Board Vehicle Power to improve electrical power system on THAAD vehicles

Leonardo DRS, Inc. announced that it has been selected by the U.S. Army to demonstrate its On-Board Vehicle Power (OBVP) on Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile battery command and control, and launcher vehicles.  The electrical power system improvements will give air defense operators immediate access to electrical power directly from a vehicle's power train.

Russian airborne units to receive prototypes of Ptitselov air defense system in 2020

The Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) will receive prototypes of the Ptitselov air-defense system in the coming years. Speaking to journalists on August 2, 2018, Col. Gen. Andrey Seryukov stated that the VDV will receive an initial batch of Ptitselov air-defense systems in 2020, adding that the technical design of the system has been completed. According to him, the vehicle will be based on the modular BMD-4M vehicle chassis, which is set to be the standard combat vehicle for the VDV. He did not indicate how large the batch of systems would be.

The US Army works on developing battlefield laser gun

Indonesia is waiting to receive the first Su-35 Russian fighter jet by October this year, Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Mohammad Wahid Supriyadi has said. "We expect the first out of eleven S-35 fighter jets to be delivered by October this year," he said. Russian servicemen to handle Chinese QBZ 95 assault rifle

Russian servicemen are learning to handle a China-made QBZ-95 (type 95 rifle) assault rifle on the sidelines of the International Army Games 2018, the Russian Defense Ministry has said. "Russian servicemen have practiced shooting with China-made QBZ-95 (type 95 rifle) assault rifles at the Korla test range in northwestern China. They had no difficulty in handling the weapon," the ministry said.
